In my efforts to find other regional expressions of devout female lifestyles like the seroras, I visited a variety of provincial and diocesan archives elsewhere in Spain. Throughout these travels I have become convinced that the seroras were indeed unique to the Basque Country, but my trips were never wasted — I was lucky enough to hit Ávila, the home of St. Teresa de Ávila, during the jubilee marking her 500th birthday.
